Hayley | Artist Biography

Hayley is an accomplished New Zealand abstract artist whose practice centers on holistic connection, nature, and the profound concept of "coming home to self." Over the past four years, she has developed a distinct artistic voice that reflects her journey across Aotearoa. After establishing her creative roots in Tauranga and the East Coast, Hayley relocated to Palmerston North, where her network rapidly expanded. Today, she works with a large, established client base stretching across the lower central region down to Wellington, and collaborates with clients nationwide from Northland to Invercargill.

With a rich professional background as a trained educator in early childhood sectors, Hayley brings a deep understanding of holistic learning and meaning-making to her canvas. This unique transition from the classroom to the studio allows her to merge emotional and educational insights with intuitive abstract expression, giving her artwork incredible depth. Previously an active member of a women's social justice art group, Hayley has channeled that powerful community energy into an exciting new venture. She now plans to facilitate her own intentional women’s art circles, beautifully blending natural elements with creative practices to guide participants through connection and self-discovery.

To protect the integrity and deeply personal nature of her current practice, Hayley chooses to work directly and privately with her clients rather than focusing on public commercial exhibitions. This intentional privacy is also reflected on her digital platforms; while her career includes successful exhibitions at Square Edge Community Arts, Snails Artist-Run Spaces, and Massey House, these past works are intentionally kept off her public website. Created during her time with a women’s collective, those early exhibition pieces were painted in direct response to justice. Hayley chooses to keep that powerful body of work private to honor its sacred nature and respect the sensitive themes it addresses.

Despite keeping her most intimate work private, Hayley's career is anchored by significant milestones. She has been selected for the prestigious Wānaka Aspiring Art Prize, completed a Snails Artist Residency, and been a part of the Manawatū Arts Trail, alongside meaningful collaborative projects with local artist dedicated to mental health awareness. Through both her private commissions and her upcoming art circles, Hayley stands out as a thoughtful force in using creativity for connection and transformation.
